-CA – Welcome back to AppTV, I’m Tasia Custode, and today, we’re hands on with the Adobe Acrobat Reader app. Join me, Tasia Custode. – And me, Gary Steeves. – For another episode of AppTV. Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free app designed for IOS and Android devices. The app allows you to easily view and annotate PDFs, as well as scan documents. I’m using my iPhone with voiceover enabled for this one, but the app works mostly the same without voiceover. You’ll only need to tap once when I say double tap. The home screen of the app is the My Document section. At the very top of the screen is the local button. When you’re in this section, all documents that you’ve uploaded to the app appear here. If you tap once on the local section at the top, followed by a double tap, a drop-down menu appears. This drop-down menu features different options on where you can access files from.
The first option at the top is recent. Under that is the local section that we’re in. Under that is the Document Cloud option. Under that is the Dropbox option, and finally, at the bottom, is the More Locations option. If you select More Locations, then double tap to select, you’ll be taken to another screen with recent documents. If you select the browse option on the bottom right, then double tap to open, you’ll be taken to your iCloud drive.
Back in the home screen of the app, tap on your desired file and then double tap to open. Here, at the top of the screen, is the file name. This main section of the screen is the body of the document. At the very bottom of the screen, you have five tool options. In the bottom left corner of the screen is the view mode button. If you select this, then double tap to select, you’ll have the option of switching the document to night mode. The second button on the bottom is the comments button. If you select this option, then double tap to enable, you’ll be able to comment on any areas you think need attention. The third button on the bottom is the search button. If you select this button, then double tap to enable, you’ll be able to search for text anywhere in the document. The fourth button, found on the bottom right is the share button. If you select this button, then double tap to open, you’ll be able to share the document or print it.
The Adobe Acrobat Reader app works great with voiceover, so while focused on the body of a document, you just need to swipe down with two fingers, and voiceover will read the file aloud. If you want to stop the dictation, just tap once with two fingers. – [Voiceover] Open a PDF from mail. Smartphone chose the red Adobe Acrobat Reader icon on the main screen. Image. – Adobe Acrobat Reader is a fairly comprehensive app for reviewing, annotating, and exporting PDFs. However, if you want some more tools, like the ability to sign or scan documents, you’ll need different Adobe apps for that. For more AppTV tips and how-tos, head to ami.ca/apptv..
