Exploded Axonometric Diagram in Adobe Illustrator

[Music] [Applause] [Music] all graphics here again welcome back to the channel in this video tutorial we’re going to learn how to make this exported diagram using Adobe Illustrator before we get started don’t forget to go to our Instagram profile or graphics calm and please subscribe to the channel you can want to miss the latest videos alright let’s begin alright first thing a quick shortcut that I will use in Sketchup it helps me a lot model certain specific elements in this is really soft work when you’re going inside a group I didn’t show the rest of the model based on destroyed cut to assign this short good to go to windows preferences shortcuts and search for hide there it is and then you can put whatever you want the key you has nothing so it’s a good option alright so the first things we gotta set up our model use the up arrow key to and as always don’t forget to go to your camera parallel projection to make sure you’re working on a cinematic way and on the preset videos on the Sketchup to get everything aligned then we can move on from Sketchup go to file export 2d graphics and choose PDF I just hit OK and then you can import that into illustrator so once you’re in your illustrator with your PDF from Sketchup open you’re going to see there’s two types of elements there’s fields and there’s strokes what I usually do is get only the fields and the latest strokes after that you can resize your or resize your your file everything and press D for default appearances so everything has a white view and a black stroke and from there on you can start on cleaning up your file and changing the colors just make sure you have everything selected before pressing D now it’s a matter of cleaning up the file delete everything that didn’t come right from the PDF and add sources if needed and by this time of the process I realized that the stroke of the image the whole image was too thick so I really use two point five points to create the overall contour just copy everything in paste in the same place using control C control shift to V and using the Pathfinder add all surfaces released compound if needed and just leave the overall contour alright to connect the vertical elements we’re going to use a dashed line so I like to create a new layer for every element we’re going to apply in this particular image so use the line tool and activate the dashed line in the stroke stab not all elements have to be created in Sketchup or your desired 3d software for example this this vertical connection that I was talking about I’m just going to do in Illustrator because it’s much faster so I don’t have to model the bat in 3d and I can go back and change everything from one to usually for every illustrator project that I have to do I like to pick a color composition a color palette so I can go through all of the design process using the same specific colors so what I usually do is go to a website call caller loggers or there’s some from Adobe too that you can pick flat already pre-made composition that has good colors that work together with and there’s always an option to grab one existing and modify to match your desire of fact and that’s what I’m gonna do it on this project once you’ve selected you the colors that you’re going to work with it’s very important to add to your swatches that makes the process of picking the existing color a much easier you can select the color scheme and under the swatch tabs click on the little folder it creates automatically for you this part is pretty simple straightforward just I’m just clipping the parts that I don’t want to show in in this fourth hole projection in this vertical pink projection using the pen tool I create the shapes and then I subtract and subtracting them using the subtract mode in the Pathfinder palette alright so let me take this time while I’m doing this you say that usually my my video tutorials don’t show every specific step to get the results then because it really depends on the type of damage you’re working with I mean I want to show the whole process process so you guys know what steps you might need to take to get the specific result but that doesn’t mean that I have to show every little details that I that I do to you guys get the same results but nevertheless I’ll be gladly answering all of your questions if you drop them in the comment sections all right so as you can see most of this type of illustration is just learning how to use a pen to align to and working with your colors here I’m using this very dark blue background with this light blue lines and this pink color to pop up some informations and I think now a lot of you guys have asked for the PSD file or illustrator files what I’m gonna do is link in the video description my Instagram profile and I’m gonna make a post about this video and there I’m gonna provide the download option so be sure to go to my Instagram profile and follow me to get the latest news and extra informations about this videos then in this illustrator file you’re gonna find those symmetric cars that I’m adding to this image you are also gonna find some silhouette people in vector shapes and you can you can grab from this project and add to your own project don’t worry about it and also I just recently bought a graphic table and I’m just testing it out and I’m gonna do some some vegetation and some some some things in this file also you feel free to grab those and use on your own project as all right so this part is just extra details we’re gonna bring some life into now here we’re gonna get the basic perimeter of the building and put flat on the ground also make sure to change that to – the line and you’ll see to cut a path in the desired place all right so now I’m just testing the graphic table just like I said but be aware that all of these processes can be done using a mouse it’s just not something really hard and also everything that I’ve done here in Illustrator can be done in Photoshop as well it’s just like that sometimes I prefer to use the the vector based program to do with specific types of image also another thing that I like to do is get a base image from Pinterest or something like that Google anything and just trace it out in Illustrator and then just like I’m doing right now just copy and paste throughout your whole file now I realize that this image needed a background like a canvas background therefore I added a basic rectangle and copy and pasted in front of the the rectangle that a city block outline and subtracted from the rectangle using the Pathfinder subtraction – pretty simple pretty straightforward just don’t forget to copy and paste an order of the outline because it deletes after the action now we’re gonna add text I’m gonna use the same method as a previous live video that I’ve made about it the SSR method but there’s also a beauty in fact that you can use to get the same the other option is to go to effect 3d and extruding Belleville and then it’s just just the position for asymmetric top is true depth to 0 and no surface shading and that’s it you get the same result but faster once you’ve applied the effect it’s gonna be on the less applied effects so you just have to go there and if like effect and apply the same one for other objects that you want the same perspective so finally the last step is gonna be adding a texture to the sky / canvas background that we’ve created so go to the swatch tab to the options on the right hand top corner and open swatch library patterns basic graphics basic graphics textures to have a lot of options of patterns and textures that you can add to your image I have selected this black random dots it comes in black but you can double click the pattern and change the color for the desired one for example this light blue that I have been using already
