How do I clear recent documents in Adobe After Effects CS3?

Question by JMcC: How do I clear recent documents in Adobe After Effects CS3?
My Adobe After Effects CS3 has too many recent documents listed. I would like to clear the recent documents. It doesn’t give me an option to do so. How do I clear my recent documents in Adobe After Effects CS3?

AE CS3 does not have built-in options to change the amount of recent documents (10?) or to clear the list.

I don’t know why you would need to clear the list, unless you have some files listed that you don’t know anyone to see… ;)

To manually clear the list:
1. Close After Effects.
2. Open the file “C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Adobe\After Effects.0\Adobe After Effects 8.0 Prefs.txt”
3. Once open, search (edit->find) for “MRU Project Path”.
4. Delete the 10 entries (#0-9).

Q&A: Is there any other software besides Adobe After Effects and Sony Vegas where I can create cool effects?

Question by 540920: Is there any other software besides Adobe After Effects and Sony Vegas where I can create cool effects?
Hey,

I really want some software where I can create fireballs and stuff. I was going to get Adobe After Effects, but after looking at the price I am not so sure. Is there any other good, reliable software where I can create fireballs, energy blasts, and other cool effects? If anybody knows, where can I buy it?

Thank you!

First of all you have to know that After Effects is not an editing video software. It’s only for making motion graphics, animation etc, and it’s very good at that.
The Advantages are many enough to make you want to have it. But a great disadvantage is that it’s not interacting good with sound. Other than that it’s a great software.

(*Advise: If you are going to buy it, wait till April because CS5 is coming out)

How to import Adobe premier file into after effects properly?

How to import Adobe premier file into after effects properly?

Question by Brad B: How to import Adobe premier file into after effects properly?
I have Adobe premier and after effects cs3. I captured some footage shot in 24p with my canon xl2 into premier. The footage is 720×480 (1.2). When I import the the premier project file into after effects it looks as though it is 4:3 and squished. I have been trying to play with the composition settings but I can’t figure it out. It looks the same when I export from after effects. Any suggestions?

I assume your comp is set to the correct pixel aspect ratio, since you already looked at those settings. (ctl+k on a pc). Have you right clicked the footage in the project window? If not, do that, select interpret footage, and click main. A dialogue box should pop up, and down at the bottom there is a drop-down menu for pixel aspect ratio. Make sure that’s set to 1.2. If all else fails, you should have a decent result just rescaling the footage to fit the window, again assuming your comp pixel aspect ratio is correct. You can do that by selecting your footage in the timeline, and hitting clt+alt+f, or right click the footage in the timeline, select transform, and click fit to comp. Good luck, hope this helps.
