How to import Adobe premier file into after effects properly?

Question by Brad B: How to import Adobe premier file into after effects properly?
I have Adobe premier and after effects cs3. I captured some footage shot in 24p with my canon xl2 into premier. The footage is 720×480 (1.2). When I import the the premier project file into after effects it looks as though it is 4:3 and squished. I have been trying to play with the composition settings but I can’t figure it out. It looks the same when I export from after effects. Any suggestions?

I assume your comp is set to the correct pixel aspect ratio, since you already looked at those settings. (ctl+k on a pc). Have you right clicked the footage in the project window? If not, do that, select interpret footage, and click main. A dialogue box should pop up, and down at the bottom there is a drop-down menu for pixel aspect ratio. Make sure that’s set to 1.2. If all else fails, you should have a decent result just rescaling the footage to fit the window, again assuming your comp pixel aspect ratio is correct. You can do that by selecting your footage in the timeline, and hitting clt+alt+f, or right click the footage in the timeline, select transform, and click fit to comp. Good luck, hope this helps.
