Adobe Illustrator has been around for almost 25 years now. Thats older than many people using it! However for those of us that have been using it for while now, we tend to do things the old way. There are many new techniques that can save you heaps of time and frustration when putting together artwork of any nature. Whatch in amazment how both Mike McHugh and John Warnock span the Illustrator timeline with a classic and sweet look at Illustrator CS4.

Illustrator (and the rest of the Adobe suite) do not support these ‘faux’ fonts. This is due to the fact that in postscript output only proper fonts and their installed typefaces are supported and the Adobe suite is geared towards this.
There are two options to make your text italic: either select it in the Type Style box – likely that currently says Roman, click on the drop down arrow and select Italic if it is available.
If the italic style is not available for your font, there is an alternative: in the Transform palette enter a value of between 12° and 15° in the Shear box. This will slant text and make it look as if it’s italic.

I need a LOT of help with Adobe Illustrator CS4 and the Wow book that I have doesn’t really teach me anything. Any recommendations?

davindageek.weebly.com Yo what is up everyone, this is your guy Davin, and I’m doing a four part video of how I draw, I deal with the Pen tool and Pencil tool in these video tutorials, lol sorry that there are four part, it’s not my fault that youtube only allows you to only post ten minute videos. However,I’m not trippin’, so yeah this first video will show how I make the bare bone sketch in which I use to do my inking in vector with the pen tool. Then from there I would use the pencil tool to color and shade my characters. Lmao ok I know what you’re saying, this sketch looks like crap! and you’re right 8D. But however the sketch is usually a simple guide in which I use to help me get to point B of the drawing. I know it’s not the most spectacular sketch work you have ever seen I mean I was also racing agents the clock too however I’m not making any excuses, but that is just the way I do things you guys. So sorry if you don’t like it xP, you can just skip to part two where I ink him if you want. I repeat there are four parts to this video, this one is the bare bone sketching , then there is the inking job, after that is the coloring, last but not least the simple shading job. Please watch all four parts before you cast your judgment. Note: I did some editing to save time, so I’m sorry if things skip around, or if it sounds like I say something out of whack Please notify me if you see something in the video I messed up or said incorrectly. Thank you so much for watching …
