How To Screenshot One Screen In A Dual Monitors Setup

It is easy to take a screenshot. However, it is possible to get confused when printing a screen from two monitors.

You may have noticed the monitors are printed when you try to take a normal screen shot of your display. The system sees your two monitors as one screen because you have extended your display.

Some people may adjust their display settings, then return to the PC Screen Only option in order to take screenshots. What if we told you that there is a simpler way to print your screen with dual monitors?

This article will show you how to print one screen using dual monitors.

How do you print one screen with dual monitors?

Windows’ built-in tools allow you to print just the screen that you want on a dual-monitor setup. You can also install third-party software to make it easier to take screenshots.

This section will cover both Windows and third-party options for printing one screen with dual monitors.

Keyboard Shortcut

It all depends on the device you have. The Windows + PrtSc key is the best. Refer to our article for more information on how to take screenshots in Windows 11.

Unfortunately, the shortcut key does not save the dual-screen snapshot on your computer drive. This is why it’s so ineffective. You can’t take screenshots of any single screen by using Ctrl+ PrtSc.

You don’t have to be confused. These steps will show you how to print one screen using dual monitors.

1. First, move your mouse pointer towards the monitor that you want to print.
2. You have two options:
   
   Alt + PrtSc
   
   Or
   
   Ctrl + alt + PrtSc
   
   As per your preference.
   

3. You will need to open an editing program next, as neither of these shortcuts saves the screenshot. You can use Microsoft Paint or Adobe Photoshop, as well as any other software that you like.
4. You can open Ms. Simply press
   
   Ctrl +
   
   Keys to paste the copied screenshot
   
   
   
5. Select the desired format of picture and save it to the location you prefer.

Use Windows Snipping tool

The Snipping tool is an integrated Windows utility that allows you to take screenshots. Unfortunately, this feature is not available on Windows versions before Vista.

You can launch the application directly from the Start Menu since most of us already use Windows 10 or 11.

This is how to open the Snipping Tool and copy one of these screens to your clipboard.

1. Press
   
   Windows + Shift + S
   
   Keys to Launch the Snipping Tool
   
   
   
   
   You can also press
   
   Fn + PrtSc
   
   Use the keyboard.
2. You’re only printing one screen. Drag the “+” pointer from the top to the bottom of the monitor.
   
   
   
3. After you are done, open Ms. Paint.
4. Copy the content and save it to your drive.

If you don’t want to use an editor, here’s how to save a screenshot of one screen.

1. Navigate to Magnifying and
   
   Search for Snipping Tools

2. Click on the New button once a new window has opened. This will show the exact same snapshot as before.
   
   
   
3. Drag and grab the entire screen.
4. The application will now show a preview. Click on the Save icon in the menu to save.

A third-party screenshot software is recommended

Third-party software has many additional features. This is the main advantage. You can use any third-party software to capture a screen shot of the desired screen, even if you have dual monitors.

There are many tools online. Some of the most popular tools include Lightshot and Screen Recorder.

Lightshot was used to capture a screenshot of the one screen on a dual-monitor setup.

1. First, download the software and then install it. The installation file can be downloaded by doing a Google search.
2. Search for Lighshot in Start Menu, and then add it to your taskbar.
   
   
   
3. Next, navigate to your taskbar and click the Show Hidden Icons.
4. Then,
   
   Tap the feather icon
   
   To launch a screenshot area.
   
   
   
5. Drag and select all of the windows of one screen, just as you did with the Snipping Tool.
   
   
   
6. Click on the Save icon to choose a location where you want to save your screenshot.
