I am using adobe after effects to edit videos and I really need to clip my video how do I do that?

There are three ways to cut a video:

1) at whatever frame you want to cut your video at, place the red marker there. Then hit control shift D ( command shift D on Mac) and it should split the video at that point into 2 separate clips. Then just delete whichever clip you don’t want.

2). At the point in time you want to cut the clip at, hit alt end bracket, which looks like this ]. That will shorten the clip to where you want it.

3). The final option is to take the end of your clip and drag it to the spot which you want your clip to end.

My dad recently set a pot on fire in the kitchen. When I heard the screaming, I was able to run into the kitchen with the video camera fast enough to capture the last few seconds of the fire before my dad poured the water on it. This isn’t nearly dramatic enough. How do I make the effect of fire extinguisher foam in Adobe After Effects?

Question by sr1shotko: What version of Adobe After Effects should i buy?
I have Adobe PhotoShop 6.0 and Adobe Premier Elements 4.0. I am looking into getting After Effects now to do some special effects. I new to the whole video editing process. What version of After Effects should i buy? I saw 6.5 and 7.0 and the new CS3 that is supposed to be the 8.0. Some of them also say professional so im not sure if i should be getting that one. Please help me.
